Although I've pretty much given up using my FR after repeatedly damaging
it starting with the buzz fix until now it's pretty much useless :( I
have one suggestion here:
3°) Which Desktop Environment should be the default?
Gnome is the default DE for a desktop installation of Debian, but it, of
course, isn't suitable for the FR.
I guess the main challengers are:
* XFCE: quite similar to Gnome, stable, usable, it has been in Debian for a
long time and there is already a task for it
* Illume: faster and finger-friendly, but much more experimental, and
available in unstable only
LXDE is much much faster than XFCE, and is also usable and stable. It's
my favourite desktop environment on the FR and on slow Linux boxes. I
found Illume quite annoying and unfamiliar.
For the phone, I was using zhone. I wouldn't say it was stable. More
than one thing happening at the same time (send, receive SMS, incoming
call) would invariably make it and/or framework hang. Also occasionally
framework would detect an incoming SMS but zhone wouldn't. And
periodically it would shut down the GSM, usually when resuming after
suspend. I gave up trying to figure these out and just learned to live
with them.
