This package has been transitioned to megaglest (see megaglest.org). This issue was fixed in 2008 in megaglest and assuming Ubuntu will inherit the package trnasition this bug should be re-tested to ensure it is fixed. Downloads are already available from the megaglest.org website using a custom installer, to test the deb packages from Debian sid there are at:
