And the package descriptions can be better formatted as: <common description> . <package specific> See for example: https://salsa.debian.org/debian-gis-team/geographiclib/blob/master/debian/control As long as your keeping the newline changes, the upstream tarball should be marked as such using the +ds suffix, for which mangling needs to be added to the watch file. But it's better to just drop the newline changes.
