I've filed a binNMU request against release.debian.org (#1100163) to have the
package rebuilt on the buildd.
In the meantime, I wrote a pure C flavor of miallib that Pieter kindly merged
to 1.1.7, along with all
other changes in sid, so we could fix properly the buildd issue.
