I'd start at the top of chain, get satpy upstream involved, it may be
their interaction with pyhdf that's the problem.
If you're able to reproduce the segfault in pyhdf, you can raise this
with its upstream.
good point, I will investigate.
I was just thinking the the recent change from hdf4-alt to hdf4, or the
new upstream release, may have some role here, because the very same
test used to work before the change.
I'm trying to dig into the diff to understand if there is anything the
