So you're suggesting to use something like: lib_name = find_library('las')[:-1] + '1' ? This seems hacky to me, but it's the "hardcoding" you're asking for.
I thought about not using find_library at all, just: lib_name = 'liblas.so.1' -- Jakub Wilk
