Package: libsfcgal1
Version: 1.2.2-1~bpo8+1.pgdg80+1
Severity: wishlist
Dear Maintainer,
while installing the PostGIS extension for PostgreSQL, libsfcgal1 got installed.
It depends on optional libopenscenegraph, which depends on hundrets on many
audio
and video codecs (ffmpeg and others).
>From my point of view, only very few people want these packages on a server,
which is about to store and provide spatial data.
Furthermore, SFCGAL's website mark OpenSceneGraph and Qt as "optional".
So these packages should also be default on Debian.

As discussed in #838036:
"
Library packages are not something to be afraid of, you are not
required to install a X server on your headless server. Some of its
libraries are required however for graphical operations, e.g. anything
to do with images (2D or 3D).
"
I'm not going to drop the OSG dependency from SFCGAL, as it is required
to export SFCGAL geometries for use in OpenSceneGraph. Upstream has
split the OSG support into a separate library but has not released a new
version with that change yet. Please convince SFCGAL upstream to release
a new version with your desired changes. Note that it will be too late
for inclusion in Debian stretch.
Kind Regards,
Bas
