Not sure why you Cc me here, I only touched the package some years ago..
A rust crate I want to package [0] ships an embedded copy of the resources files that libphonenumber provides [1]. Would you consider provider a -data package just containing those files ? This would greatly ease packagin. I can prepare a patch / MR to facilitate this if you agree.
I think this is a good idea, maybe just join the Java team and do it? Cheers Jochen
