The above suggestions definitely reflect that most commenters have not worked on java-package. Maintaining the lists of files to remove, which to leave alone, which to replace with symlinks, etc. across 8 JREs and 8 JDKs is highly impractical. Simply reviewing all of them for alternatives installation took 16 hours for me catalog, modify, and review this weekend.
