Thanx for your help, but I'm giving up. After two years trying to setup Linux to my needs I'm tired of researching and tinkering all the time - mostly without success. Etch was an improvement - but since I can do nothing worthwhile with it - my little son is happy having his own Laptop. Greetings Mechthild
