Hi, I am writing to get clarification of the license of the generated preinst and postrm scripts that are built by make-jpkg.
I work for a large IT company, and we are trying to support Debian and Ubuntu user within the company. I was hoping to use make-jpkg to convert the ibm-java packages to .deb, however as java-package is under GPL, there is a worry that if the packages are distributed outside the company (which they should not be because of the license of the upsteam java) that the inclusion of the preinst and postrm scripts would mean the whole package must be under the GPL. Can you confirm what license the generated scripts are under? If they are not under any license, could java-package be changed to state this in its copyright file?
