Yes, kudos to the JavaScript packaging team for steady and fruitful work. > Front-end developers will probably not use the packaged libraries, and > rather download local copies with "our" npm or yarkpkg. After failing in 2017 to get a Debian-based JavaScript front-end development setup working, I tried again in the second half of 2018 and found it was *much* better. With NodeJS, ReactJS, Webpack, Babel, and several ES6-translation tools installable from Debian, it was feasible for me to get set up and freshen my web skills. It's good to be able to avoid, at least in some measure, the security tragedy that is most of the advice to modern web developers. It has been demonstrated more than enough times that I should not trust npm with installing applications on my workstation, so Debian packages make my work much better. -- \ “There is no reason anyone would want a computer in their | `\ home.” —Ken Olson, president, chairman and founder of Digital | _o__) Equipment Corp., 1977 | Ben Finney -- Pkg-javascript-devel mailing list [email protected] https://alioth-lists.debian.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-javascript-devel
