I would recommend just a libjs-jquery-x.y package (assuming that
versions with the same x and y are mostly compatible). That way other
packages could also use them.

Judging by the lintian page a number of packages use their own jQuery
because of a mismatch. Perhaps input from the jQuery maintainers is in
order (Cc-ed).
