Ohhh, how embarrassing!  No, I was actually editing by hand, just 
blindly assumed when I saw that fallback that you'd copied from one of 
my early packages where I do fallback to yui-compressor.

...and I believe you are wrong: fallback build-dependencies are (unlike 
pbuilder) ignored by the official build daemons, which means it _is_ a 
FTBFS.  That also means that there was no benefit of that fallback even 
for unofficial use (that I can think of): What release of Debian (or any 
derivative) provides node-uglify but not libnode-uglify?!?
