All was working well, amarok was sending music through the virtual
sound cards that I have defined in ~/.asoundrc. Then I did an "apt-get
upgrade". Now amarok says

The audio playback device Jack Audio Connection Kit does not work.
Falling back to OSS default output.
I still have music but it not going through the correct sound
card. Amarok is using the xine backend. When I open the "Sound and Video
Configuration" window the "Jack Audio Connection Kit" is the first in
the list "Output Device Preference for the 'Music' Category". The next
entries are "ALSA default output" and "OSS default output".
I think that amarok is the only KDE program that I use. All my other
music programs (mplayer, vlc) use ALSA directly and work fine.
