In version 2.2.2 the file browser in Amarok worked like a tree view, with "+"
and "-" controls to expand or contract directories. In my opinion, that
approach was much better than the current folder navigation scheme, which
relies on a hierarchy title in the form "[Home
icon]/>mnt/lacie/Music/Rock/Dredg" style which is unreadable when the Media
Sources tab width is reduced.
In my player all I can see is "[Home icon]>/>...>...>...>Rock>D...", which is
hard to understand and even worse to navigate.
I recommend falling back to the 2.2.2 behaviour, which is clear enough and
relies on a well tested standard for directory navigation.
The only issue that should be fixed in version 2.2.2 of the browser is keyboard
navigation, since it did not support using Left/Right arrow keys to
contract/expand directories.
