Package: digikam
Version: 2:1.9.0-3
Severity: important

After the upgrade from 1.2.0 to 1.9.0, most of the preview images appear blurry
and are not rotated when then should be.
This only affects reduced size previews: if I tick "Embedded preview loads
full-sized images", the full size preview images are clear and correctly
rotated.

I don't think there is a problem with the images themselves because version
1.2.0 was fine with the same image collection.

I first reported the bug upstream (Bug 275400 in the KDE bug tracker,
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275400) but after investigation it looks
more like a Debian-only issue.
Gilles Caulier (main upstream developer) suspected libjpeg but I checked on my
system and:
- digikam 1.2.0 + libjpeg 6.2 was fine (before the upgrade)
- digikam 1.9.0-3 + libjpeg 6.2 is not, even though libjpeg did not change

To Reproduce the issue:
- untick "Embedded preview loads full-sized images"
- click on a thumbnail
-> The image is blurry and not rotated
(http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=61180)

Or, for the slideshow:
- click on Slideshow
-> The images are blurry and not rotated
(http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=61181)

Here is how the image should look (rotated and clear):
http://bugsfiles.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=61179

I can post the original JPEG if needed. Please tell me if you need more
information to investigate the issue.

Cheers,

Package: digikam
Version: 4:2.6.0-1

Hi,

after upgrading digikam to the version now in testing (4:2.6.0-1), I
cannot reproduce this bug any longer.

I initially reported it with digikam 1.9.0-3 + libjpeg 6.2 but digikam
2.6.0-1 + libjpeg8 8d-1 (which are now in 'testing') make everything all
right, even though I'm still not sure what the root cause of the bug
was.

=> This bug can probably be closed.

Cheers,
