Nope, not at all. (At least I don't know at all, how this could happen).
What happens is that KDE 4 uses ~/.kde4 instead if ~/.kde. This means
you have to copy ~/.kde to ~/.kde4 to keep your settings. Could this be
the 'problem'?
We really don't have any code in place which could delete ~/.kde.
