While checking the upstream tarball, I noticed that the md5sum of the
tarball did not with the tarball distributed by upstream. On further
inspection, it turns out that the contents are identical, so I suppose
that the difference where just in the metadata (timestamps, etc).

Yes, I also noticed. I believe this is because I adjusted debian/gbp.conf to not touch the upstream tarball at import anymore just *after* I imported the new tarball. So git-import-orig believed it had to remove the debian/ directory and repack the tarball although this has become unnecessary.

I've updated the pristine-tar branch to match upstream's tarball.

Fine, thanks!
