Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to push my pristine-tar branch. I've done so
now.

It should have worked if you would have passed the parameter '-b' to
git-buildpackage:

$ git-buildpackage -b

-d instructs dpkg-buildpackage to avoid creating a source
package. Source packages are not required for testing, only for
uploading to some archive.
