Hi Jonas,

Hi Alessio,

Please post to the list rather than privately. I took the liberty of posting this response to the list (hope you don't mind).

Please generally use the more modern tilde "~" instead of dot ".", as it makes room for later corrected upstream release (e.g. in cases of licensing problems not in core code but in some contrib folder, where it makes sense to re-release using exact same upstream version number).

just read now this mail,

Not so strange: I wrote it after you'd changed to plus and released :-)

anyway lintian warned about that, so my choice was to replace the dot "." with the plus "+".

Is it correct? Please let me know if I made any mistake...

Plus and tilde are both modern - but where tilde means "just below" then plus means "just above.

So for the general case: no, I still recommend using tilde instead.

But did you read my last part (below what you woted above)? What you did is perfect for the specific case of replacing an already released upstream version, and it is "correct" also for later releases but not perfect.

So what I recommend for this specific case - and which is not too late - is to add a comment at the place(s) where you added that plus about then switching from the "correct" plus the the more elegant tilde.

Does that make sense?
