Subject: mplayer: interference with hdaps driver
Package: mplayer
Version: 1:1.0.rc2svn20090613-0.0
Severity: important

Hi, i have ibm thinkpad t43 with hitachi hard drive. kernel uses hdaps
module for detecting motion of notebook and landing hard drive arm in
safe area in case of emergrency. actually this is done be hdapsd deamon,
which uses /devices/platform/hdaps/input/input8 for input. This is
joystick device with two axis.

mplayer in debian in newer version (there is no problem in lenny, even
with kernel with hdaps support and modules loaded) is using this
information, and jump like crazy within watched movie (because input8 is
generating events all the time about position of computer).

any ideas how to blacklist such device?

I should have noted earliery, you are not using a package distributed by
debian.

I've now reread the whole bugreport and wanted to fix it in
debian. However, I found that the debian mplayer package has never
enabled joystick support so far. For this reason, there is nothing to
fix in debian.
