Please attach patches rather than refer to them online: Email is a delayed media, sometimes used offline (unlike e.g. irc).

I fail to understand your question. Your patch seems (from a brief look) similar to the older one, and the problem lies in the use of /usr/share/pyshared which is Debian-specific (and even possibly internal to the tool - I am unsure if you risk breakage if the maintainers of python-support (or was it python-central?) changes their routines internally).
