meeh, because I didn't notice that dpkg did not try to apply the quilt patches despite being in Format 3.0 (quilt). Applying the patches by hand solved this problem. Anyway, I think i managed to finally build it on kfreebsd. The first issue was to forcefully disable alsa, it seems vlc doesn't build with the salsa library for some reason.
