Package: mplayer
Version: 1.0~rc3+svn20090405-1
Severity: normal
Since a recent update, subtitles in mplayer do not work anymore.
When I try to play a movie with subtitles (wether with autodetected subtitles
or explicitly set with -sub), they don't show up anymore, with the following
message :
New_Face failed. Maybe the font path is wrong.
Please supply the text font file (~/.mplayer/subfont.ttf).
subtitle font: load_sub_face failed.
Furthermore, their are no more time or any text displayed when asking for
playing time progress for example (with the 'o' key).
Searching on the web, a lot of people suggest providing a font with the above
name, but mplayer used to work for a long time without this. It should use the
'default' font of the system, or anything that suits it.

The fix is to enable the -fontconfig option. In package version
2:1.0~rc3+svn20090405-2, this is done by default.
