Package is not building ... so I did run lintian yet.This usually warning me for problems like that.
Lintian is great in the same way as a dictionary: supports you with specific facts, but is never complete - you need to think for yourself anyway, and ideally all lintian warnings should only be reminders for you on things you already knew but just accidentally missed.
...In reality I guess noone knows all of the lintian facts by heart, but I still find it slightly worrysome if what you say is that you rely on lintian to "cover your ass" in packaging. :-)
