I like this, it's really less vague than the X-Comment form, anyway
DEP-5 suggests differently:

### Extra fields.

Extra fields can be added to any section. Their name starts by **`X-`**.

You are quoting the definition of "Extra fields". I am referring to the later discussion in the debian-project mailinglist.

Even when using r135 of DEP5 you can arguably avoid leading X- simply by considering your fields not as "extra" ones but "proposed" ones (as their format are not defined nor forbidden).
