Steps to reproduce:
1) sudo apt-get install freecol mencoder ffmpeg mplayer
2) mencoder -oac pcm -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=ffvhuff -vf 
scale=320:240,rotate=1 -o testcase1.tmp.avi 
3) ffmpeg -i testcase1.tmp.avi -vcodec libvpx -acodec libvorbis testcase1.mkv
4) mplayer -nosound -vo null -endpos 1 testcase1.mkv

Expected results:
4) mplayer plays the video

Actual results:
4) (on armel architecture) mplayer does not play the video but only

Playing testcase1.mkv.

and gets stuck consuming all available cpu time.
