You can find a failing build log for ppc64el at https://subdivi.de/~helmut/debomatic-logs/liblivemedia_2014.01.13-1_ppc64el.build Since liblivemedia does not use autoconf or similar, debhelper does not take care to supply the compiler automatically. In this particular case, setting up CC and CXX is sufficient to getting the build working. I am attaching a patch doing just that. Please consider applying it.
