This doesn't seem to be fixed in 1.45 as the CPAN bug is still open (I
haven't checked the repository though). I'm surprised this is the first
mention of this issue in Ubuntu since according to the Debian bug, this
has been present since 1.41 which was in Oneiric, so we've already had 3
releases with this broken.
