Public bug reported: I am working with Perl, DBD:ODBC and the MS-SQL ODBC driver to write some scripts making queries on a MS-SQL database. I had a lot of issues with character sets, and after spending a lot of time to find the issue, I finally found that the Ubuntu package of the cpan module is not compiled with unicode support.
https://metacpan.org/pod/DBD::ODBC#odbc_has_unicode When I removed the ubuntu package and installed from CPAN the module with unicode support enabled, my script worked correctly without any charset issues. Would it be possible to configure the Ubuntu package with unicode support by default? ** Affects: libdbd-odbc-perl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Debian Perl Group, which is subscribed to libdbd-odbc-perl in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056327 Title: libdbd-odbc is compiled without Unicode support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libdbd-odbc-perl/+bug/2056327/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~pkg-perl-maintainers Post to : pkg-perl-maintainers@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~pkg-perl-maintainers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
