Hello Niko, I have never cared or checked whether it needs a writeable $HOME. I assumed autopkgtest was run on something approaching a "normal" system, i.e. with existing and writeable $HOME. Also I was not aware that writing to that directory and not cleaning up was a bug. Is this documented, and if yes, where? FWIW I checked both specification https://salsa.debian.org/ci-team/autopkgtest/raw/master/doc/README.package-tests.rst or policy in vain.
