Well, OK, strictly speaking you are right because I misdirected the report -- it should have gone to postgresql-common since pg_upgradecluster belongs to that. Anything in postgresql-common ultimately is a Debian decision (as it is not provided by upstream). I agree those decisions may very well be in the *spirit* of upstream's defaults. So, to rephrase the question: I wonder whether --data-checksums can be pre-set in /etc/postgresql-common/createcluster.conf's "initdb_options" ? Would you take care of re-attaching the report or should I file a new one ?
