Hi,

My pulseaudio also experienced breakage after my last full-upgrade of
squeeze. This is the version you mention.

In my case, system sounds would still work... but this being KDE3.5, my
system sounds don't use pulseaudio. I had no sound in kaffeine or
totem. MPlayer did have sound.

I found a fix which works for me, other than downgrading.

Have you tried running pulseaudio as root or as the pulse user?
You can achieve this easily by editing /etc/default/pulseaudio to start
the daemon at boot as the pulse user.

NOTE: you can probably test this by killing the pulseaudio instances
that are run by your user and launch it again as root or pulse. However,
for some reason, it sometimes fails to get access to the sound card,
with or without issuing an error message at the shell. So, to make sure,
I'd rather edit /etc/default/pulseaudio and reboot.

Hope this helps.

Debian, this is my third attempt at getting this reply accross to your
bug system. Is there a problem or something? I was thinking, maybe I get
blocked as spam, but then I receive no notification.
