Package: pulseaudio
Version: 2.0-6
Severity: normal
Sometimes sound completely becomes distorted, sounding as some high pitch
garbled sound. This problem is always triggered by pidgin playing a
notification sound, although it does not happen every time pidgin plays sound.
The sound of all applications playing at that moment, is completely garbled. I
need to stop the application playing sound, and restart it to get normal sound
again.
In pidgin, I have the sound method set to "Alsa".
To reproduce: I watch DVB-T in Kaffeine, and have pidgin running. All of a
sudden when pidgin plays a notification sound, both the pidgin sound as the
kaffeine sound becomes garbled. Sound in Kaffeine remains garbled, until I
restart it. Killing pulseaudio and restarting playback in kaffeine, also fixes
the problem.
