Package: pulseaudio
Version: 0.9.10-3
Severity: normal

On my Duron 1200 pulseaudio takes 2.5% CPU time when no audio is played at all
and ca. 10% when in use. I can't imagine a reason why even resampling should
take that many cycles. Together with #505091 just playing background music
takes away 20% of my CPU, which e.g. makes it impossible to play openarena at
the same time. What do owners of slower machines do? Unfortunately some
programs don't work without pulseaudio and pulseaudio is incompatible with alsa
dmix, so I'm forced to use it for multiplexing audio.
