The same thing happened here. I first downgraded to 8.0-2+b2 and had sound again. Then Google lead me to this report and I upgraded pulseaudio but, this time, installed pulseaudio-module-udev too, which solved the problem.
Therefore, for some reason, pulseaudio-module-udev was quite needed here.
IMO, pulseaudio-module-udev shouldn't be among "Recommends" anymore. After all, recommending something means that it is NOT essential to the functioning.
