Problem appears when using multiple instances of redmine configured 
by dpkg-reconfigure on apache with passenger. The effect is that only
one instance is accessible from browser no matter you separate them in
different virtualhost.

The problem has i simple solution by a hack with symbolic links
as described in link below. This solution has been found and fixed (documented)
in Ubuntu.

I suggest a modification to a README file in /usr/shar/doc/redmine
to handle this solution.

the solution you link to was provided by me, and has been documented
in redmine package that is in testing.
