Hi, sadly, https://alioth-lists.debian.net/pipermail/pkg-shadow-devel/2024-November/013510.html did not prompt any replies. I have therefore done some research and found https://wiki.debian.org/UserAccounts. Since I found that a quite good introduction to the topic, I decided to re-work the page, brought some structure into it and would like to solicit your opinion and comments to this page. It's a wiki, feel free to edit.
I will next write some language about encoding of user names and about the different approaches to what constitutes a valid user name and what constitutes a sensible user name. I plan to go public on debian-devel with this once the page has reached a status that I find acceptable as base of discussion. This might pretty well be this weekend already, since I would like to go forward with adduser. Please comment and/or help, if you can find the time. I would appreciate that.
