Hi, I've uploaded shadow 1:4.17.0-1 to experimental a few days ago.
Most notably, the old Debian patch allowing almost any symbol in usernames has been dropped. Marc and me discussed this and Marc will work on adapting adduser as needed. I hope this all works out fine. Please test it and report back!
