Thanks, Michael, for taking this reopened report back into libpam-systemd.
While I do not think that my original title was misleading (it described conflicts between packages), your new title is better as it describes the task to be performed when the blocking issue is complete.
Your temporary removal of the alternative dependency on systemd-shim is much appreciated as otherwise an upgrade would have left sysvinit systems broken!
I am holding libpam-systemd, systemd, and sysvinit-core until an upgraded systemd-shim is available, when I will test and report back.
