While looking into this, we might also need to pull the patch from [1].

Afaics, after a reboot your files will have the wrong permissions. Aside
from 755 simply being non-sense, the world-readable bit is actually a
securiy issue.

We either need to backport Lennart's more elaborate fix [2] or pull the
simpler patch from Jan Alexander Steffens.
