Dear Maintainer,
After systemd somehow managed to become PID1 again, despite my previous efforts
to restore sysV as my init system, I realised that closing the lid of my laptop
would cause my computer to disconnect from the network. I tried to fix this by
editing /etc/systemd/logind.conf, as shown below. I then tried to restart the
systemd-logind service:
# systemctl restart systemd-logind
Failed to get D-Bus connection: Unknown error -1
Even just "systemctl" fails:
# systemctl
Failed to get D-Bus connection: Unknown error -1
Even though dbus seems to be running:
# /etc/init.d/dbus status
[ ok ] dbus is running.
Restarting dbus did not solve the issue.
I'd be happy to be able to either restart the systemd-logind service, or manage
to get sysv back as my init system once and for all.

You are using sysvinit as PID 1 as shown by the status message of the
dbus service. So the error message you get from systemctl is not suprising.
