I think dracut should provide a dpkg trigger, which individual packages, like systemd, mdadm, lvm2 etc can trigger upon (de)installation, to make sure the initramfs is up-to-date. When we talked about dracut being triggered by initramfs-tools via a file trigger based on /usr/share/initramf-tools hooks, you didn't like this idea and you want individual packages to trigger the update explicitly [1]. /usr/share/doc/dpkg-dev/triggers.txt.gz has some documentation about explicit triggers. Would be great if you can add trigger support to dracut.
