Package: sysvinit-utils
Version: 2.87dsf-4
Severity: wishlist
Disabling a sysv service is quite tedious, to do the right way:
Rename the S?? symlinks to K?? symlinks (for all affected runlevels) and
running update-rc.d (which is a new requirement with insserv)
It would be handy if the "service" command had a disable/enable action,
which would disable/enable a given sysv service.

update-rc.d has had "disable" and "enable" commands for a fair while
now, and "service" is just meant to "run a System V init script". I
don't think we should conflate the two and provide redundant
implementations.
Thus I'm closing this now, I think this was filed before "update-rc.d
enable". If you object, please reopen.
Thanks,
Martin
