There was a bug in systemd-fsckd, which killed the fsck process after an
idle timeout (typically 90s). I'm pretty sure you ran into this issue.
This has been fixed in 231-7 by [1]. I'm therefor closing this bug
report. If you still run into any issues on an up-to-date sid system,
please reopen this bug report.
