I'm planning a new sysvinit release, based on the patches currently in use in Debian, SuSe and Fedora. This will make it easier to coordinate development between these three distributions.
I plan to make the tarball release as part of the pkg-sysvinit alioth project, and use the version number 2.87dsf (debian suse fedora) for this first new upstream release. I have spent the last few days integrating patches from Fedora into the Debian build, and plan to do similar for the SuSe packages. When this is done, I plan to apply all the generic Debian patches and make a new tarball release. Any comments, objections, suggestions regarding the patches in the pkg-sysvinit svn and help with this work is most welcome.
