According to
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/serialconsole-setup.html
the serial devices have been renamed from /dev/ttydN to /dev/ttyuN in
kfreebsd 8.x. The inittab for kfreebsd should be updated accordingly

Apparently. I stumbled upon this issue when updating a kbsd VM from
squeeze to sid and tried to enable serial console access.
As inittab is not a conffile though and is only installed once, those
changes didn't make it into /etc/inittab.
I guess handling of /etc/inittab won't change, so let's just close this bug.
