Has there ever been a time when a Debian system did not leave boot messages on the screen before displaying the login prompt? With the present getty from util-linux this no longer happens; clearing the screen before presenting the prompt is now the default. I suppose you could provide an inittab with the --noclear option to getty in it but surely, at the least, a mention of the change in the traditional behaviour in NEWS.Debian is worth a line or two? -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-686-pae (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages sysvinit depends on: ii initscripts 2.88dsf-18 ii libc6 2.13-24 ii libselinux1 2.1.0-4 ii libsepol1 2.1.0-1.2 ii sysv-rc 2.88dsf-18 ii sysvinit-utils 2.88dsf-18 sysvinit recommends no packages. sysvinit suggests no packages. -- no debconf information _______________________________________________ Pkg-sysvinit-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-sysvinit-devel
