I've been looking into replacing sysv-rc with Gentoo's openrc, which is somewhat more sophisticated, and there are a number of people interested in this. One other point for consideration is that SuSE have switched to systemd, and will presumably be dropping upstream startpar/insserv support once they no longer need to support it.
Would it be OK to either use the existing pkg-sysvinit-devel list for this purpose, or to create a new list e.g. pkg-sysvinit-openrc for discussing openrc packaging? And likewise either reusing or creating a list for git commits in that repository. The repository is at git.debian.org/git/collab-maint/openrc (in collab-maint as for sysvinit).
